Narration – “There are three major blood vessels which supply the muscle of the heart and by which the pump of the heart works. See, due to excessive cholesterol deposition, these vessels tend to get blocked. So whenever the blockage is more than 70%, which we come to know by history of the patient and by few preliminary investigations, angiography and all those, so if these vessels cannot be repaired by angioplasty, the case is given to the surgeon to bypass these vessels by some kind of conduits.
So this is what I’m doing and by bypassing those blockages by using leg veins or other such conduits available in the body so that to leave…this is basically done, these days everybody is doing it on beating heart. We don’t need to stop the heart to do all these kinds of things.”
Lay to rest your apprehensions about quality of cardiac surgery, such as, angioplasty in India, for Indian surgeons undergo one of the most exhaustive medical curricula in the world inside the hallowed portals of premier med schools in the country. Since the days of Sushruta, country’s dominance in medicine has been bequeathed as a legacy which unflinchingly is honoured by its doctors.
